Kettering Air Cadet Receives His Wings

Corporal Phillip Cridge (16) from 1101 (Kettering & District) Air Cadets was recently awarded his Gliding Wings. He completed his Gliding Scholarship over four weekends, flying Solo at 616 Volunteer Gliding School, RAF Henlow.

The Air Cadets offers many opportunities including flying and gliding as part of its objectives to encourage an interest in aviation amongst young men and women.
He has been a cadet at the Squadron for three years and has completed his Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award. As well as Gliding he is also a skilled marksman and Swimmer.


Corporal Cridge of 1101 Sqn

Corporal Cridge said “I thoroughly enjoyed this experience and I am now applying for my flying scholarship. It is my ambition to become a pilot in the Royal Air Force and this is one step closer to fulfilling my dream.”

His Squadron Commander Flight Lieutenant Liz Kerr RAF VT (T) commented “It is fantastic that the cadets on the Squadron are meeting the challenges and taking advantage of the opportunities available within the Air Cadet organisation. We now have four cadets on the Squadron who have achieved their Gliding Wings.”
