Cadets from 1101 (Kettering) Squadron had a very successful annual awards evening recently. 123 awards were handed out to the cadets for various achievements they have worked for at the squadron and through the Air Cadet Organisation.

Air Cadets from 1101 (Kettering) Squadron celebrated a fantastic year by handing out more than 100 awards at their annual awards evening. The cadets were joined by a very special guest of honour who was Captain Robert Miles,a former cadet of the squadron, currently serving with the Army Air Corps flying Apache attack helicopters.

The cadets from the Kettering squadron have been successful throughout the year in many areas such as academic subjects such as principles of flight, propulsion and basic navigation. But that’s not all! Other awards included Bronze and Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award badges, gliding scholarships, shooting marksman, radio operator, youth first aid and many, many more.

The aim of such award evenings is to show the parents what exactly their sons and daughters have been working towards at the squadron. The Corn Market Hall was packed with proud parents, relatives and members of the Kettering Royal Air Force Association sharing in the squadron’s success.

The cadets enjoyed an evening where they received recognition for their hard work and dedication over the past year. A new bench mark was set at 123 awards being presented, the Commanding Officer Flight Lieutenant Liz Kerr said;
“I am extremely proud of all the cadets. They work hard all year round to achieve these awards. I would also like to thank the families of all the cadets as without their continuous support none of this would be possible”
