Hundreds of awards were presented to deserving young people last Wednesday (21st) as Kettering Air Cadets held their annual presentation evening.
Over 140 presentations were made during the evening, honouring the hard work, dedication and commitment of the 66 young people who regularly attend the Northampton Road Squadron.
Awards were given to cadets who excelled in sports, swimming, classroom learning, shooting and flying and were presented by Group Captain Brett Morrell, Regional Commandant of Central and East Region Air Training Corps.
Cadet Warrant Officer Chris Perkins was one of the evening’s big winners scooping numerous awards including the much coveted Councillor Groome Trophy for Public Speaking and a certificate to officially mark his role as Lord Lieutenants of Northamptonshire’s Cadet 2012.
During the event a series of promotions were also made, with five cadets being promoted from Sergeant to Corporal and 12 cadets promoted from cadet to higher roles within the Squadron including Corporal.
Kettering Air Cadet Commanding Officer, Guy Slack, said: “Our annual presentation evening is a fantastic opportunity to congratulate our cadets and mark their achievements.
“Many cadets stand out as sports people while others excel in aviation studies and field craft – the awards evening gives us the opportunity to acknowledge all of our cadets and effort they put in every week.”
