Young people from Kettering Air Cadets have achieved sporting glory after being selected to run for the region in a prestigious cross country competition.
A group of 11 cadets from the Northampton Road squadron have taken part in the Air Training Corps South and East Midlands Wing cross country competition. During the race two cadets were steps ahead and were selected to run for the region.
Lauren and Ethan Mehmet will now compete for the region and will run races representing the whole of the wing RAF Air Training corps which consists of squadrons from Northamptonshire, Leicestershire, Rutland, South Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.
Squadron Commanding Officer, Flight Lieutenant Guy Slack, said: “We are absolutely delighted that two of our cadets will now represent the region in their chosen sport. This achievement only goes to highlight their hard work and dedication – they are a credit to Kettering Air Cadets.”
During the competition, held at RAF Wittering, 29 squadrons from across the region took part. Young people at Kettering Air Cadets scored highly and were ranked 10th in the competition.
