Saturday 28th July, 2012, marked the start of yet another Llanbedr Adventure Training Weekend for South and East Midlands Wing. The week was another successful achievement for the Wing as it enabled Cadets from all over the six counties to not only partake in adventurous training activities on land, water and through the air but also to make new friends. “The camp was a great experience! There was so much to do, ranging from abseiling down rock walls to pot holing in slate mines. The camp brought together Cadets from all different Squadrons.” Cdt Levers (1936 Newton Sqn)

Activities across the week included: mountain biking, orienteering, dry skiing, tobogganing, abseiling, rock climbing, zip wiring, kayaking and canoeing to name but a few!

However action packed this week may have been, there was always time for a walk down to the beach, a game of crazy golf, exploring the local town and even a dip in the sea! “I found Llanbedr camp, one of the best cadet camps I have ever been on. Everyone bonded together really easily and we had great fun. The activities were great. Many of which were new experiences.

The camp also improved some of my Cadet skills such as navigating and orienteering. I would really recommend this camp to anyone who wants to have a good time and try new opportunities.” Cdt A. Taylor (378 Mannock Sqn)

The week’s activities were run by a small group of staff from across the Wing. Luckily, for this camp, there was a dedicated catering team who ensured every dietary need was met. The variety of food was endless and cooked to a superb standard; breakfast in itself was a banquet consisting of: cereals, toast and an array of cooked foods: bacon, sausage, egg, hash browns, baked beans, black pudding and bubble and squeak.

“I really enjoyed the camp; I met a lot of new friends and had amazing experiences. I had fun from mountain biking to jumping off a cliff and flying through the air – attached to a zip line, into the blue lagoon.” Cdt Dunnington (1936 Newton Sqn)

“Through attending Llanbedr, it has made me realise what I can actually achieve, it is the best camp I have ever been on. The activities have been amazing!” Cdt Mabbutt (422 Corby Sqn)
