Cadet Corporal Alex Chapman (15) of 2195 (Long Eaton) Squadron has been awarded the Sportsman of the Year Trophy for outstanding sporting achievement within South & East Midlands Wing.

This has been a very good year for Alex on the sporting front. During the space of 12 months Alex has represented his Squadron, Wing and the Region. Due to his love of sports he also has been awarded the Wing Triple Blue for representing the Wing in 3 different sporting activities.

“His sporting achievements definitely demonstrate an ‘all round’ sporting talent with the desire to participate and win that has resulted in a number of outstanding results across the Wing and Region. Alex is now one of the leading cadets involved in sports at his squadron” said Flight Lieutenant Lynda Waplington, the Wing’s Sports Officer.

He also encourages others to take part and push themselves. He is very reliable and is willing to join teams at extremely short notice and still out in the maximum effort required.

The Trophy was presented to alex by wing commander Nigel Dickinson, Officer Commanding South & East Midlands Wing.
