Air Cadets from Long Eaton raised nearly £500 pounds for helping pack customers bags at the newly refurbished Morrisons Store in Derby.

The cadets from 2195 (Long Eaton) Squadron, Air Training Corps, took the opportunity offered by the Community spirited Morrisons to spend two evening packing customers shopping bags after the re opening of their Derby Store after the company’s store improvement.

The start of the new school year limited the number of cadets available for the “Bag Pack” but what the cadets lacked in numbers they made up for in enthusiasm as they packed bags of shopping for four hours each night.

“The people of Derby have been extremely generous to us and have far exceeding our expectation. We would also like to thank Morrisons for giving us the opportunity at this very busy time” said the Squadron’s Officer Commanding, Flight Lieutenant Jack Stepanian.

The money will go towards introducing up to date training equipment and replacing some of the Squadron’s aging camping equipment. These items will enable the squadron to continue to pursue both an academic and adventurous training programme for the benefit of the cadets.

The Cadets would like to thank Morrisons and all those customers who gave so generously
