Tuesday 9th of June 2015, the cadets and staff at 2195 (Long Eaton) Squadron said goodbye to one of their beloved Flight Sergeants.

Flight Sergeant Dave Smith has left to go to Ilkeston squadron after having spent many years at 2195. He has done many things for the cadets and staff; but importantly he enabled many cadets to pass their weapons handling test enabling them to aim for marksman’s.

Thanks to Flight Sergeant Smith the squadron now has many people who have earned their marksmanship badges. The Flight Sergeant was loved very much on the squadron itself.

On final parade it all went as it would any other night with the exception of giving Flight Sergeant two mugs of his own and many photos were taken with smiley faces and a final photo with the cadets staff and Flight Sergeant in all smiling away happily.

Everyone was sad to see him go and wish him the best of luck! Cadet Corporal Catherine McHale said “I have not known the Flight Sergeant for as long as many of the cadets and staff, it was truly a sad night and I would like to wish the Flight Sergeant the best of luck in the future.”
