Today was South and East Midlands Wing’s inter-squadron swimming competition, where squadrons in the wing competed against one another in the pool.

Held at the Harvey Hadden Sports Village, cadets competed according to several age categories: junior girls, junior boys, senior girls and senior boys. There were races for a variety of strokes. This included: backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, freestyle, medley and relay.

Despite having had difficulties with a few last minute substitutions and dropouts, Long Eaton Air Cadets achieved 10th overall.

Those who held the fastest two times for each category were made eligible for the region competition. Cadet Sergeant Craig Harrison narrowly missed out, coming 3rd overall in the senior boys backstroke. He said “It was hard work and a tough day but it was worth it to see everyone and compete for the wing.”
