Cadets, Flight Sergeant Matt Dorrington and Sgt Darren Walker have recently been presented with their gold gliding wings after gaining enough experience and hours to go solo and achieve the gold standard.

Matt and Darren are extremely keen on gliding and attend 644 VGS at Syerston most weekends and are now passing their experience and knowledge to other Cadets. CFS Matt Dorrington said “it was fantastic to be able to fly solo, the feeling was amazing. The gliding course is one of the most challenging and rewarding things that I have ever done”

OC 2195 Squadron Fg Off Jack Stepanian said “this is an excellent achievement for these two cadets. I know that they have put in a great deal of effort in order to achieve this award, and it takes both a great deal of skill and maturity in order to fly a glider solo. I am sure that the experience will stay with them for the rest of their lives.”
