Great success has been achieved in recent weeks by an outstanding cadet from 1279 (Melton Mowbray) Squadron, Air Training Corps. Cadet Sam Page, aged 14, has recently been in the fortunate position to show off his musical talent at the Air Cadet Organisation Music Services National Marching Band Camp.
The week long camp from 4th April to 11th April, at RAF Halton, brought together 107 cadets from across the country to train as one to form the ACO National Marching Band. Cadet Page (a clarinettist) along with his fellow musicians spent the week honing their musical and marching skills to an exceptional level. After an intense weeks training, it was time to put it all into practice at Christ Church Meadows with HM Royal Marines Portsmouth (Royal Band) where all shone through and Cadet Page was presented with his gold musicians badge, the highest musicians accolade in the Corps.
Cadet Page commented “The week was hard work but I got into it and really enjoyed it. Everyone was very welcoming, I made loads of friends and it all finally paid off in Oxford”.
