The sun shone on RAF Wittering on Sunday 26th April as competitors assembled to take part in the South and East Midlands Wing Band Competition. Cadets from 2229 (Loughborough) Squadron, managed by Plt Off Dring, worked extremely hard in preparation for the day and their enthusiasm paid off with their triumph in the Ensemble category. Their performance of the recent pop hit “Hallelujah” was outstanding and impressed the judges. Wing Commander Dickinson presented the First Place Certificate to Cpl Zoe Candlish (17) who received it on behalf of the Loughborough Team.

The cadet’s commitment to the Corps of Drums also came to fruition with 4th place in the Percussion section, which was an excellent result for their first competition.

Flt Lt Kath Lane, OC 2229 Squadron witnessed the event and remarked “I am so proud of the cadets and look forward to the year ahead, when we will build on their achievements and further develop the musical talents of the Squadron.”
