New Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet for Rutland

Article posted: Oct 22, 2011 by Sqn Ldr Utting

Although Rutland is the smallest county in Britain it still has its own Lord Lieutenant, Dr Laurence Howard. As 2248 (Rutland) Sqn is the only Air Cadet Squadron in the county they always have the honour of nominating a Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet.

This year was the turn of Flight Sergeant James Dadford. James, who has just turned 17 years and is studying Law at New College Stamford, was delighted to be chosen for this prestige award. He said, “I feel very privileged and excited to be given the opportunity of representing the county as the Lord Lieutenant Cadet particular in the year of the Queens Jubilee”. The yearly ceremony takes place at Oakham Castle a Norman castle built in 1180.
