209 (West Bridgford) Squadron has a new Officer. Flying Officer Liam Waring has joined us and taken on the role of Training Officer.
Fg Off Waring first joined the ATC as a Cadet at 1936 (Newton) Sqn when he was 13. After enjoying 8 years at Newton as a Cadet he became commissioned as an Officer at the Squadron. He then moved to 1279 (Melton Mowbrey) Squadron and later became the Squadrons Commanding Officer.
He stood down from the Command of 1279 Sqn to pursue his studies and training to become a Paramedic. Now that he has more time he has returned to ‘the shop floor’ with 209 Sqn.
Fg Off Waring said of his arrival at 209 Sqn, “It’s a fresh challenge with new faces and it’s great to be back into the Wing more.”
The CO of 209 Sqn, Flight Lieutenant S Richards said “Liam and I go way back. We were both Cadets at Newton Sqn together and it’s great to have him at 209 Sqn.”
Fg Off Waring has already taken part in many activities at 209 including Climbing, our Christmas Camp, Ice Skating and running lessons on Camouflage and Concealment.
