New Padre for Coalville Air Cadets

Article posted: Jul 28, 2008 by sl1

Last week a new padre was enrolled at 1188 (Coalville) Squadron Air Training Corps.
The squadron has been without a padre since the Reverend Tom Ringland left Christchurch and is very pleased to welcome the new padre Reverend Martin Joss. He has already been involved with squadron life attending the Presentation Night and taking the cadets gliding but his enrolment formally makes him a member of the squadron.
He was enrolled by the chaplain of the South and East Midlands Wing, Reverend Michael Asquith, who is a friend as well as a colleague as they went to university together. The enrolment took place at the squadron headquarters on Forest Road in Coalville and it included a march past by the cadets. The Commanding Officer Flight Lieutenant Clive Williams RAF VR (T) welcomed the new padre and pinned on his badge of office. Reverend Martin Joss has previously been involved in youth work and also has a love of the Spitfire aircraft so should fit in well in the Squadron. Reverend Martin Joss said, ‘ The cadets looked very smart and I was impressed with their drill. I am looking forward to being involved with all aspects of squadron life. I would really like a flight in a glider with 643 Gliding Squadron at RAF Syerston’.
Reverend Martin Joss’s first official duty will be attending the week long annual camp at RAF Uxbridge in the beginning of August.
