Cadets and staff from 1461 Wigston Sqn have recently recruited a new Sqn mascot, Roque (‘Rocky’) was only a few days old when he was taken from his mother and put on sale in a Spanish pet-shop.

The Born Free Foundation rescued the vulnerable tiger cub and today this full-grown majestic tiger lives in a large jungle enclosure at our special tiger sanctuary, surrounded by the sights and sounds of wild India. The money was raised at a recent parents evening and the cadets adopted the tiger as the new sqn crest designed by one of the cadets, depicts a tigers head, and the Sqn is based on Tigers Road in Wigston. Officer in Charge, Fg Off Tim Hargraves said “It’s great to see the cadets pulling together to support an organisation such as Born Free, let’s hope that in the year of the Tiger, Roque brings us success and 1461 have a good year!”
