New trailer for Beeston Air Cadets

Article posted: Feb 21, 2012 by Sqn Ldr Wilson

Cadets from 1359 (Beeston) Squadron, Royal Air Force Air Cadets, have given a big thumbs up to the people of Nottingham, and the Beeston area in particular, for their help in raising funds to purchase a trailer for the Squadron. The money raised has also enabled the trailer to be adorned with the appropriate logos and the Squadron’s minibus has also been rebranded with the money raised.

A substantial part of the cost was covered by the money received from the 2011 Nottingham Post’s Cash for Your Community Campaign in which 1359 received the second highest payout. Additional funding has come from bag-packs in Tesco and Sainsbury supermarkets in Beeston as well as other funding and donations from the local area.

The trailer will allow the Squadron to transport cadets around the country in comfort as they take part in activities such as Duke of Edinburgh expeditions and Adventure Training weekends. All the bulky kit can now be loaded into the trailer leaving more room on the minibus for the cadets. The branding, which includes the address and contact details for the Squadron, will also raise the profile of the unit and help with recruiting. The trailer was used for the first time on 19th February when 1359 travelled to RAF Wittering for the South and East Midlands Wing cross country competition. The minibus and trailer combination drew many admiring glances from the other squadrons in attendance.

The cadets, staff and civilian committee from 1359 would like to thank everyone who collected coupons or who made donations to the fund to enable this purchase to be made. They would also like to thank Blueprint (Nottingham) Ltd for their assistance in designing and applying the scheme.
