On the 20th of January, a contingent of cadets from both 1936 (Newton) Squadron and 2425 (Nottingham Airport) Squadron arrived at the newly located Nottingham Climbing Centre to take part in a couple hours of bouldering and wall climbing.
Once kitted up, everyone warmed up by doing some low level bouldering. This is basically like the usual climbing walls but you’re not in a harness so extra care must be taken not to slip.
Once warmed up, all cadets were harnessed up and put into teams of two or three. In my group were Cpl Evangelina Ellison and Cdt Lee Barksby. Both of them were confident with heights as I watched them fly up the wall with great ease. We took it in turns to climb to the top of the wall, but after a while started to challenge ourselves by only touching a specific coloured grip.
Every cadet in attendance seems to look like they were enjoying themselves; I can definitely say that I did myself. I and the rest of 1936 (Newton) Squadron look forward to anymore possible opportunities like this one in the future.
