On the 4th of February, many awards were presented by 1936 (Newton) Squadron’s CO.
To start the awards off were a whole set of awards for swimming proficiency, a mixture of both basic and intermediate level earned over the past year, the aim of course to have every cadet to a reasonable standard for safety, and fun.
Once these certificates were presented, Fg Off Day RAFVR (T) went onto present two DofE badges. One at Bronze level for Cdt Olly Bilous and one at Silver level for Flight Sergeant Tom Dodge.
FS Dodge is currently working towards his Gold DofE and already completed the expedition section, which he did last summer.
Finally the last badge on the table was presented but this wasn’t a DofE badge, it was a Master Air Cadet Badge. This badge is earned once seven classification exams are passed at: Leading, Senior and Master level. Once earned, the holder can apply to go onto do the CMOI course, thus earning the Instructor Cadet Lanyard or even apply for the Qualified Aerospace Instructors Course (QAIC).
A big well done to all cadets who were presented with something, and if you didn’t then work hard and it’ll happen.
