Sqn Ldr Andy Pass was pleased to hand out the silverware to Newton’s Media Team for coming first in the Cadet Media entry at the South and East Midlands Wing’s, Wing Field Day. Everyone at Newton is pleased as punch at coming first in the competition, including former Newton OC Sqn Ldr Pass.

Sqn Ldr Pass hands over the trophy to Newton’s Media Team

The Newton Media Team is comprised of 5 cadets and CI Sean Swales who were represented at the Wing Field Day by Cadet (now Corporal) Ellison. She accepted the silverware for the team on the day of the competition, and more formally at Newton’s Squadron HQ.

The team’s entries, including the winning cadet entry, are now on display at the squadron.

The winning entry will now go on to the Regional Field Day, where the entries from this region’s wings will all be judged. The winner of this has a real chance at being produced life-size and actually becoming an advertising display for the Air Cadets as a whole.

The Media wasn’t the only thing that Newton excelled in though; the team of First Aid cadets lead by Cdt FS Vickie Sherwin achieved a highly creditable third place in their competition, out of all the squadrons in our wing!
