On 24th May, our Squadron Honorary President, Sir Edward Nall and his wife Lady Helen hosted an event at Hoveringham Village Hall in aid of the RAF Benevolent Fund. Sir Edward asked if several Cadets from 1936 Squadron if they would assist by serving Canapes and Drinks to the attendees before everyone sat down for a really interesting illustrated talk on the Dams Raids by Robert Owen, historian to 617 Squadron.

The whole evening gave the Cadets an incredible insight on the invention and making of the “bouncing bomb” and the amount of reconnaissance work and practice before these bombs were used to destroy three dams on the River Ruhr in Germany. After helping to clear away the Cadets were thanked personally and left for home after a truly enlightening evening.
