16TH May 2012 saw OCW Wing Commander Nigel Dickinson OBE RAFVR (T) and Flt Lt Waplington visit 504 (West Nottingham) Sqn for our annual Wing Inspection, greeted by CI Booth and CI Hendi-Ibbs Wing Commander Dickinson and Flt Lt Waplington were escorted to the parade square of 73 engineer regiment at the TA Centre next door to the sqn.

Following the general salute the inspection of the cadets began, Wing Commander Dickinson stopped to talk with the cadets, asking such questions as why they had joined, what they wanted to achieve with the ATC and what activities they enjoyed the most. After the inspection 504 (West Nottingham) Sqn performed a march past.

Back at the Sqn the cadets began their night, Wing Commander Dickinson toured the Sqn with Flt Lt Emma Butler OC 504 before retiring to the OC’s office for a meeting.

Final parade began with the usual staff notice’s, Flt Lt Butler then asked Wing Commander Dickinson if he would like to address the cadets, Wing Commander Dickinson told the cadets how pleased he was with the inspection and march past performed by the Sqn, and that he had watched the Banner Team at the recent competition and was very impressed with their first attempt competing against the rest of the wing and should be proud of coming in 14th position.

Wing commander Dickinson finished up by presenting Flt Lt Butler with her cadet forces medal; this is awarded to uniformed members of staff for twelve years service.
