Outstanding Wing Triumphs at Corps Band Championships

In addition to the incredible and never before achieved third successive win for 1084’s band (see separate article), the Corps Band Championships heralded other notable achievements for members of South & East Midlands Wing, the representatives of Central & East Region.

The Ensemble of cadets from 209 (West Bridgford) Squadron had the audience, including Air Commodore Dawn McCafferty, the Commandant Air Cadets, in raptures over their outstanding performance. It was clear from the applause that it was indeed something special and so it proved as the strict judging awarded them First place in the Ensemble Competition.

Cadet Flight Sergeant Dan Brown

Cadet Flight Sergeant Dan Brown from 858 (Rushden) Squadron, although recovering from illness, was determined to attend. In the cold hanger and under immense pressure from other competitors, Dan achieved an incredible third place in the Solo Drummer Class. Talent, skill and gritty determination earned Dan a just reward.

With the exception of the Solo Bugle Class, Central & East Region’s team, made up entirely of cadets from South & East Midlands Wing, came in the top three in all other classes. What a remarkable day.
