Eighteen track and field records were broken at South and East Midlands Wing inter Squadron athletics competition held at Saffron Lane, Leicester.
Of those eighteen records broken, four were class records for the 1500 metres and three class records in the relay.
Although there was a chill to the wind, the sun shone on the fierce competition as the twenty nine squadrons battled it out.
In the end, 126 (City of Derby) took the overall champions cup with a massive 76 point lead over 1211 (Swadlincote) who led 1359 (Beeston) Squadron by eleven points.

Victor Lodorum trophy for the best male athlete was presented to Cadet Perkins of 2070 (Glenfield) Squadron and the Victrix Lodorum for best female was shared between Cadet Flight Sergeant Grant and Cadet Denham of 1359 (Beeston) Squadron. All the trophies were presented by Kathy Dickinson, wife of the Wing Commander

Wing Commander Nigel Dickinson congratulated the winners and all who took part on their fine effort. The Wing Commander also used the opportunity to announce that Cadet Warrant Officer Ireland of 126 (City of Derby) Squadron had been selected as the Dacre Sword Winner, the second win in succession for cadets from South & East Midlands Wing. “This shows the calibre of the cadets within the Wing and I am immensely proud to command what is one of the best wings in the country” said the Wing Commander.
