It’s been a brilliant couple of months for 1360 (Stapleford Sandiacre) Squadron! Having enticed 18 new recruits on to the team what better way to make them love the Air Cadets even more than to take them on their first camp!
The training camp was held at Drum Hill Camp site in Derbyshire, it was especially created to train the new recruits to work as a team and to teach them skills they will need in the future.
The Lessons consisted of first aid, field craft, and team building activities. The cadets slept out in tents and cooked their own food, which consisted of 24 hour ration packs these are full with boil in the bag meals, soups, powered drinks, chocolate, and biscuits. The ration pack contains all the calories needed for one day. At night the cadets were involved in a night ex set up to test the skills of what they had learnt.
The cadets where picked up from the camp site by their parents on the Sunday morning after a long weekend of rain, rain and more rain. Tired and sleepy they were all ready for a long shower and their own bed. It was a great weekend for the new recruits, cadets and staff. There will be plenty more to come in the year.
