Saturday 6th December two Staff and the Chair of 209 (West Bridgford) Squadron, Royal Air Force Air Cadets spent the day at 2195 (Long Eaton) Squadron along with other Staff within the Wing at the Risk Assessment (RA) Training Course.
The day included how to conduct a risk assessment using a step by step process, how to identify potential risks, implement the necessary control procedures and act quickly if something goes wrong. It also included a short test at the end of the course. With all receiving a pass they will now be able to assist the Squadron Health and Safety Officer and other staff in completing thorough risk assessments prior to training activities and being prepared when moving into the new Squadron building.
Further to this each of the Staff have successfully completed further training enabling them to tutor cadets in the Entry Level Award in Hazard Awareness Qualification.
The project which was launched by Headquarters Air Cadets (HQAC), in conjunction with the British Safety Council (BSC), requires Cadets to complete five areas of safety including safety signs, fire safety and PPE.
With three qualified Volunteer Tutors (VT) we hope to see many certificates being awarded to Cadets of 209 in the future!
