Staff and Cadet’s from 2418 (Sherwood) Squadron spent Sunday 13th September in Nottingham helping out at the annual Nottingham Robin Hood Marathon. This has become an annual event for the Squadron and is one of the events that all Cadets (including staff) look forward to. A total of 15 Cadets and staff helped marshal the finish line and gave out medals to those who had completed the course.

Approximately 6,667 people participated in the half-marathon (13-miles) whilst a further 1,330 people went on to participate in the grueling full marathon (26 miles). The squadron worked very hard during the morning ensuring that all those that completed the race received their much deserved medal.

But all the hard work paid off as 5 Cadets and 2 Adult staff members had the opportunity to meet, chat to and be photographed with Graham Onions, Ryan Sidebottom and Graeme Swann from the England cricket team.

A big cricket fan, Adult Sergeant Hart commented afterwards, “The highlight of the day was meeting the 3 England cricket players and having the opportunity to speak to them. It was a surprise we definitely weren’t expecting.”
