South & East Midlands Wing Athletes Narrowly Defeated

The Pride of South & East Mids with the spoils

By the closest of margins, the cadets of South & East Midlands Wing were narrowly beaten into second place by rivals Trent Wing at the Central & East Region inter wing athletics championships held in Leicester.

Although a great disappointment to the Team, staff and Wing Commander, it was nevertheless a spirited and determined display by the Wing’s athletes who pulled out all the stops.

Throughout the blustery day, the maroon and blue of South & East Midlands Wing graced the podium and it was obvious that it was going to be a close run contest with Trent Wing. It was unfortunate that in the final points count, Trent pipped us at the post.

Wing Commander Nigel Dickinson, Officer Commanding the Wing, expressed his pride in the athletes and the staff, in particular Flight Lieutenant Lynda Waplington Richards, who has manged the team as Sports Officer for several very successful Years. “The cadets again have given their all for the wing. On the day, Trent Wing just scraped home ahead of us but we gave them a good run for it. The cadets can still hold their heads high and be proud of what they achieved on the day”.
