Over the weekend, four cadets from 2195 (Long Eaton) Squadron ATC joined other squadrons around the Corps to practice target shooting; on the L81 Target Rifle at Nescliffe. These cadets whom attended the weekend shooting camp were: Cadet Sergeants Nicole Walker, Craig Harrison, Cadet Corporal Duncan Jameson and Cadet Bradley Scriven, the cadets headed down to Nescliffe on Friday night ready for a brief for the weekend.
On Saturday, they split into pairs for working in the butts and shooting. The team then got to shoot with an L81 Target Rifle at 300yds. After both cadets had shot 9 bullets each they then swapped jobs. Which all the cadets enjoyed very much, as it gave them the opportunity, to learn new things when shooting or working the butts.
Once the day’s shooting was over, the team had to clean their rifles before having a chance to relax and reflect on their free time till 23:00 when it was lights out.
On Sunday the cadets left to go to the range for the final bit of shooting before they departed home. Beforehand, all the cadets got to use up all the left over rounds, this meant that Cadet Sergeant Craig Harrison, Cadet Corporal Duncan Jameson and Cadet Bradley Scriven got to shoot 50 rounds each, whilst this was happening Cadet Sergeant Nicole Walker had the job of operating the butts!
A very big well done to all four Cadets this weekend for shooting in their 40s and for the massive improvement from the Bisley weekend!
Cadet Bradley Scriven said “I found it a great weekend that I’m glad I attended. I’m also happy I had the opportunity to fire the L81A2. I look forward to the next training weekend in May.”
