Last weekend, from the 4th until the 6th May 2013, 5 cadets, Green, Harrison, Mckeown, Maule, Fletcher and I attended our 3 day and 2 night expedition for our Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award, along with members from 1936 Newton Squadron. Our expedition took place in the Peak District of Derbyshire where we walked a 30 mile route in order to complete our award.

Our aim of the expedition was to analyse and consider the impact of visitors on the major riverside footpaths. We were to collect photos and write notes on our observations across the weekend. Throughout our beautiful, joyous weekend all team members built on their own strengths to increase their leadership skills and morals. Our navigational skills were on point each day creating even more of a strong bond within our group, and an experience we will never forget along with the memory’s that will last a lifetime, all in all I wouldn’t ask for a better experience and I would recommend Silver Duke of Edinburgh to everyone contemplating either starting their Duke of Edinburgh Award or carrying it on further forward.
