Sunday 29th September 2013 saw the start to the New Sporting Season for South and East Midlands Wing.

The Wing entered teams into the Girls Hockey and Senior Boys Football Competition held at RAFC Cranwell.

Cadets came from across the Wing to take part in the Competition and certainly didn’t let themselves, their Squadrons or the Wing down.

Both teams had an excellent turn-out and they played with all the heart and enthusiasm that could be expected of them. The trials and training by the team managers paid off with the cadets in high spirits on the day.

Both teams managed to win games throughout the Competition, and managed to walk away with the 2nd place position on the day. All cadets were awarded a Silver Place medal for their hard work and effort.

Although the Wing didn’t win either competition, it was a close contest throughout the day and at the final parade it was obvious that the Wing had won the overall day with 2 second places.

Flt Lt Lynda Waplington – Wing Sports Officer Commented that the turn out and team spirit on the day was excellent, and it was brilliant to see the all the cadets go home with a medal – well done.
