Snowed in Sunday for Swadlincote Air Cadets

1211 (Swadlincote) Squadron ATC celebrated the annual ATC Sunday at their building last weekend, despite the widespread disruption caused by the snow.

The Squadron’s band put on a good show for the South Derbyshire District Council’s Chairman, Councillor Michael Stanton, and his wife, who were guests at the event.

After the performance the Councillor unveiled the Squadron’s recently commissioned artwork, a caricature of the Staff at 1211, created by Tim O’Brian, before the Cadets and guests retired for tea and cakes.

Squadron Commander, Flight Lieutenant Alyn Thompson, summarised: “We are delighted to have once again celebrated this annual event, with Cadet numbers only marginally affected by the weather. We would like to thank the Chairman of the Council and his wife for braving the poor road conditions to be with us and for kindly unveiling our artwork.”
