Article posted: Jun 08, 2015 by Flt Lt Rayson-Flynn

Yesterday saw the South and East Midlands Wing Athletics team travel to Bedford for the Region Athletics Championships competing against the other Wings in Central and Eat Region.

The day turned out to be another successful day for Wing in sporting events.

All cadets gave it their all and the served the Wing proudly. Final results showed them as:

Class A – 4th
Class B – 1st
Class C – 2nd
Class D – 1st
Class E – Joint 2nd

The Class results also gave the Wing the overall Trophy for 1st place.

The Wing Sports Officer WO (ATC) Joanne Fowler said “Even though we had cadets drop out this morning the cadets stepped up and gave 110%. I am very proud of them all. I would also like to say a big thank you to Flt Lt Moore 1211 sqn, FS ATC Theyers 2195 Sqn and SGT ATC Robinson 1F sqn and the parents who volunteered to be officials today and also assisted in transport. Without their support events cannot go ahead. Well done everyone!”

There was more good news as the results came in showing Cdt Lydall 378 Sqn had broken a Region record for the long jump by 9cm – jumping a fantastic 5.93m. Congratulations to him.

11 cadets have now been selected the represent Central and East Region at RAF Cosford on the 20th June.

Well done South and East Midlands Wing!
