South and East Midlands Wing enjoy Region Success

After months of preparation, the cadets arrived at RAF Halton for this years Regional Field Day competition. Morale was high and with the sun shining we set out to compete against the other Wings in the Region across a range of activities including Band, Media, Aeromodelling, Aircraft recognition, First Aid, Drill, Banner and shooting.

The morning progressed with some of the Wing attending the Annual Formal inspections with Air Commodore Dawn McCafferty RAFR, Commandant Air Cadets, in attendance whilst the teams world hard in their competitions. As the day progressed cadets were reporting back in good spirits that they had given their all and were feeling pleased with their performances.

As the final parade assembled spirits were high that we’d done our best and we were left to hope for success. Having achieved some amazing results in 2014, the bar was set very high.

One by one the results came in and the smiles started to get wider. 1st South and East Midlands Wing …. 1st South and East Midlands Wing …. 1st South and East Midlands Wing. Overall the Wing received a fantastic 17 trophies from the individual competitions.

Excitement mounted as the final result and winners of the Fazackerley Tray for overall Field Day Winners was announced …. you guessed it! …..

Officer Commanding Wing Commander N Dickinson OBE RAFVR (T) thanked everyone after the event saying “Well done everyone from SEMW and thank you for your magnificent efforts today at Region Field Day. One very proud OC Wing”

The hard work now continues as successful cadets prepare to represent Central and East Region at the Corps Championships.
