South & East Midlands Wing Athletes Pipped at the Post

By the closest of margins, the cadets of South & East Midlands Wing were again narrowly beaten into second place by rivals Trent Wing at the Central & East Region inter wing athletics championships held at the excellent Bedford Stadium.

Although a great disappointment to the Team, staff and Wing Commander, it was nevertheless a spirited and determined display by the Wing’s athletes who pulled out all the stops winning three out of the five category trophies on offer. But the Overall Winners Trophy was presented to Trent Wing by the narrowest of points..

Throughout the heat of the day, the maroon and blue of South & East Midlands Wing graced the podium and it was obvious that it was going to be a close run contest with Trent Wing.

Wing Commander Nigel Dickinson, Officer Commanding the Wing, praised the outstanding effort; “A fantastic effort by the whole team including the staff and parents who kindly gave up yet another Sunday to support the Wing.
As ever I am extremely proud of everyone that took part in an incredibly close competition.”
