South & East Midlands Wing Big on BASIC

Cadets and Directing Staff of the BASIC Instructor Cadet training course 1/08.

50 cadets from Squadrons across South & East Midlands Wing recently attended the Wing-run BASIC Instructor Cadet training course held at the Headquarters of 1360 (Stapleford & Sandiacre) Sqn, Nottingham on Sunday 30th March 2008.

The South & East Midlands Wing Cadet Development Team (CDT) run the course four times per year and this course was the first to be held during 2008.

The course aims to prepare cadets for service as Instructor Cadets and the course content includes Instructor Cadet responsibilities as a supervisor and legal adult within the Corps, as well as Health & Safety responsibilities and procedures. In addition, the course also covers ATC & RAF Structure and Organisation, Administrative Responsibilities, Discipline, Conditions of Service and Financial Matters.

Sqn Ldr Mark Richards (Wing Training Officer – Cadet Development) commented “The Cadet Development Team courses are always well subscribed and the 50 cadets who have now completed their BASIC Instructor Cadet training have been given an insight into their role and responsibilities, and the expectations required of them, as Instructor Cadets within both South & East Midlands Wing and the Air Training Corps”.
