Squadron Open Evening a Great Success!

Article posted: Feb 21, 2013 by Sqn Ldr Mayoh-Smith

On Monday the 11th of Feb 2229 Squadron hosted an open evening for parents, new cadets and some guests from the local area to come along and see what we get up to on a weekly basis. The evening started at 1930 with a presentation from Flight Lieutenant Adrian Garraway about the Air Cadet Organisation as a whole and the squadron. Obligatory tea and biscuits were on offer as this is what runs the RAF and ATC squadrons across the country whilst the cadets filled the TA Centre with various stands showcasing what we do. Cadets manned the stands and were on hand to answer questions. We had a fieldcraft stand showing off some impressive camouflage and cooking. Two radio stands at either end of the room allowed guests to talk to each other on some field telephones, a big screen showed some videos of the drill team and some activities we have done and as always some target rifles were on display under the watchful eye of CI Eric Severn. In total we had 14 new cadets join the following Thursday night. Special thanks go to Youth of Loughborough who sent a couple of representatives along to see what we do and show their support.
