Twenty two adult staff from across 13 Squadrons of South & East Midlands Wing attended a 1 day Food Safety training course on Saturday 28th November 2009 in Leicester. Subject to receiving their examination results, each attendee will gain the Level 2 Food Safety qualification issued by the Royal Institute of Public Health.
The course covered the importance of hygiene, the food handler’s legal responsibilities and their role in monitoring food safety procedures, and how to store, prepare, cook, hold and serve food safely. The course was presented by a local college lecturer & St. John volunteer.
The course was organised by Squadron Leader Andy Pass (Wing Training Officer – Adult Development) who commented “it is hoped that all attendees have gained a further insight of basic food hygiene and will put into practice the principles when preparing food on adventure training camps or Squadron social functions”.
The attendees now eagerly await confirmation of their results, however early indications are that all who attended passed the course! Hopefully certificates will soon be presented.
