Summer in Hong Kong for West Nottingham Air Cadet
It has been confirmed that Cadet Flight Sergeant Kane Dunker of 504 (West Nottingham) Squadron will be off to Hong Kong this summer to represent the Air Training Corps and the United Kingdom on the International Air Cadet Exchange Programme for 2014.
CFS Kane Dunker applied for a South & East Midlands Wing IACE placement in either Germany, Australia, or Hong Kong, back in early December 2013. Kane completed the application forms, along with a recommendation from OC 504 Squadron and sent it to Wing HQ in hope of success. His hard work for 504 Squadron paid off as confirmation of his placement to Hong Kong came through shortly after Christmas.
CFS Dunker was extremely pleased at gaining this fantastic opportunity and said in response to hearing the news of his place: “Going to Hong Kong has got to be my biggest achievement whilst being in the ATC and I am looking forward to the experience immensely.”
Kane is set to fly out from Heathrow Airport on the 21st July and will return to the UK on the 8th August, during the three week period he will be learning about Hong Kong culture, as well as visiting China, as part of a packed programme of activities planned.
On hearing of CFS Dunker being successful in gaining a place, OC 504 Squadron (Flt Lt Jodi Hudson) commented: “We are very proud that one of our own has been chosen for such a unique and prestigious opportunity within the ATC. Kane is the first Cadet from 504 Squadron for a long time to have been awarded a place on IACE and we wish him every success for his time in Hong Kong.”
