The 1211 Air Training Corps Squadron extends an open invitation to all local youngsters and their families to attend their open day, being held at their headquarters on Eureka Park in Swadlincote on Sunday 9th September from 10am to 4pm.
The successful and nationally acclaimed Squadron opens its doors to the public once annually, welcoming the community to see for themselves what the Air Training Corps has to offer in terms of exciting activities, specialist training and career-enabling qualifications.
Other entertainments being provided at the open day will include a display by the award winning Squadron band and drum corps, pioneering and leadership exercises, first aid and CasEvac demonstrations, a tall climbing wall and a flight simulator. Other external agencies may also be present with displays, including the Royal Air Force, Fire Service and County Council.
Squadron Commander, Flight Lieutenant Alyn Thompson RAFVR, summarises: “We’re set to host an even greater open day this year; we welcome everyone to join us and discover more about what we have to offer the enthusiastic youths of our community. We’ll have Staff and Cadets available throughout the day to answer all your questions and guide you around our Squadron and entertainments. If you’re interested in joining the Royal Air Force Cadets, make sure you don’t miss this opportunity to see what we’re all about.”
