Article posted: Nov 14, 2012 by Flt Lt Rayson-Flynn

The 1211 (Swadlincote) Squadron of the Royal Air Force Cadets began their parade from their headquarters on Eureka Park at 09:45, being led by its Band and Officers, with a full police escort. The parade marched up to the Bridge Street roundabout, and then down to the Memorial Gates where the wreath-laying service was held.

From here the parade, now flanked by thirty other service representatives and over one hundred public supporters, marched up to the Fire Station and up High Street all the way to Hill Street. The remembrance service was held in the Hill Street Church.

After the service the parade marched back to their Squadron headquarters, retracing their route. Squadron Commander, Flight Lieutenant Alyn Thompson RAFVR, commented: “We attended this year’s local remembrance parade and service with a record turnout of over one hundred personnel. We are proud to have represented our organisation with such dedication on this important day.”
