Swadlincote Cadets Engage with Armed Forces

Army and Royal Navy careers teams have delivered in-depth awareness seminars to eighty Air Cadets at the 1211 (Swadlincote) Squadron ATC in a week of armed forces youth engagement projects.

Royal Navy Warrant Officer Dave Bryan and Army Captain Ian Ross delivered two seminars on separate evenings, explaining the reasons behind current armed forces deployments around the world, before discussing career opportunities available to young men and women today.

Squadron Commander, Flight Lieutenant Alyn Thompson, summarised: “We don’t often have the opportunity to engage so comprehensively with our armed forces as we have over the past few evenings. With many of our young people interested in a career in the armed forces, these awareness evenings are both valuable and worthwhile. The questions asked by our Cadets at the end of each seminar shows they have a keen interest in current and world affairs, and seek a deeper understanding of the opportunities available through which they may one day be able to personally make a positive difference.”
