A team of thirty Air Cadets from the 1211 (Swadlincote) Royal Air Force Cadets Squadron will be putting the final touches to a very special memorial this Saturday morning.

As part of the Million Trees Derbyshire project being supported by the Big Tree Plant and the National Forest Company, the South Derbyshire District Council have commissioned a tree-lined avenue to be professionally incorporated into the South-Eastern area of Swadlincote’s Eureka Park landscape. In honour of the 65th anniversary of the Squadron’s headquarters being located on Eureka Park, the avenue is to be named Air Cadet Way.

Squadron Commander, Flight Lieutenant Alyn Thompson, summarised: “The Air Cadet team will plant ten ornamental Jubilee trees, which will line the avenue along its Northern edge. We are thrilled by the Council’s kind gesture to commemorate our Squadron’s strong heritage within the Swadlincote area.”
