1999 – 2009 Celebrating 10 Years of Success

South and East Midlands Wing girls showed the boys how it was done by breaking six of the Wing’s swimming records at the inter squadron competition held in Nottingham.

Six of the twelve female cadet records were broken in an exciting afternoon of competition to find the Wing’s best squadron in the water. Cadet Corporal Ianelli of 1(F) (City of Leicester) Squadron broke three records for the Senior Girls, Cadet Ball of 1084 (Market Harborough) Squadron broke two Junior girl records. 126 (City of Derby) Squadron broke the Senior Girls Free Style Relay record.

The overall winners of the day, and winners for the eighth time, were 126 Squadron with 1211 (Swadlincote) Squadron chasing them to the finish and 1(F) not far behind in third place.

On presenting the trophies, Wing Commander Nigel Dickinson, Officer Commanding the Wing, spoke of the Wing’s achievements so far this year adding: “with a strong team drawn from today’s competition, this wing will be hard to beat at the inter wing competition. There has been a tremendous effort by all who took part and I am proud to lead such a committed and successful wing”.
