Officers from the 1211 (Swadlincote) Air Training Corps Squadron have received medals in recognition of their continued service during the Diamond Jubilee period.

Flight Lieutenant Alyn Thompson, Flight Lieutenant Ruth Morgan, Flight Lieutenant Kath Sales and Flight Lieutenant Rob Moore were joined by their Wing Staff Officer Flight Lieutenant Julie Rayson-Flynn. Each received a medal, bestowed upon them by Her Majesty the Queen, and presented by the Chair of South Derbyshire District Council, Councillor Michael Bale, during an evening of cheese and wine to mark the occasion.

Squadron Commander, Flight Lieutenant Alyn Thompson, summarised: “It is an honour to be receiving these medals in recognition of the Queen’s reign, and each member of my dedicated team also thoroughly deserves the recognition of their own exemplary service to the RAFVR and Air Training Corps. We all thoroughly enjoyed the evening in the company of our distinguished guests.”
