On the 25th of February myself, Cpl Foster and Cpl
Green with SAC Haywood from the RAF and 2418’s Warrant Officer, WO Bates, welcomed a local beavers group to our HQ for a night of fun to get them into the feel of the ATC.

The night started with an introduction for the beavers about the RAF and the ATC. We quizzed them on their knowledge of fast jets and helicopters which we then showed them a video of to get them to realise what these aircraft did.

Afterwards we played a dress up game, allowing them to try on all different items of uniform from greens and a combat helmet to officer number one blues and jacket with the hat. They found this lot’s of fun and some claimed it was the best part of the night.

Others however enjoyed the next part when we carried out some basic drill with them with a twist to make it interesting for them. We taught them to stand to attention and to stand at ease, but to make the turning more interesting we got them to jump whilst turning left and right and also got them marching on the spot. At the end we managed to get them all marching in a line which they found great.

All in all it was a successful night and was thoroughly enjoyed by all the beavers and they said that they would love to come again and 2418 would welcome them back anytime.
