Air cadets from (1188) Coalville Sqn supported the troops in Afghanistan by sending them shoe-boxes full of gifts for Christmas. The cadets sent 23 shoe-boxes, to Army Police officers serving in Afghanistan and also RAF personnel.
Over the years the squadron has received letters of thanks and also been visited by grateful troops. The squadron has sent 158 shoe-boxes in total.
This year is no exception the air cadets have received letters, emails and even photographs of the troops with their shoe-boxes.
Lcpl J Blamire , AGC from the Royal Military Police said, “It was very nice to receive treats and gifts that are hard to find out here. It is also nice to know that there are people out there that care and put the time and effort in to make a soldiers day, that little bit better out here, so thank you very much to all of you. “
Flying Officer R Harrison RAF VR (T) said” It is always encouraging to hear from the troops. I often wonder if the parcels make it in one piece. It was really good to see the photographs of the troops with their shoe-boxes.”
