On Sunday 17th October, 12 Cadets from 126 (City of Derby) Squadron put on their smartest uniforms and shiny parade shoes to provide a guard of honour at the wedding of two of their members of staff.

Flight Sergeant Andy Glover and Flying Officer Jackie Glover (formerly Barker) were married at the Derby Conference Centre on a crisp, sunny, Autumn day. As they exited the wedding ceremony venue, 12 senior cadets from the unit where they both serve formed a special guard of honour.

The guard of honour was organised by Cadet Warrant Officer Elodie Marsh. She said, “Andy and Jackie have been staff at 126 Squadron for many years. The cadets wanted to share in their happy celebration to thank them both for what they do for the Squadron.”

In true 126 Squadron style, the cadets also played a part in the couples honeymoon. Fg Off Glover and F/Sgt Glover decided to spend the second week of their honeymoon with 47 cadets and staff on a squadron overseas trip to Normandy. For the newlyweds, this meant putting on hold married life as they spent 7 days under canvas, in separate tents.

Fg Off Glover said, “The air cadet organisation is such a big part of our lives. There was no hesitation to share part of our honeymoon with the cadets. We had a fantastic week surrounded by our best friends from the Derby staff team and some amazing air cadets.”
