On Sunday (7 June) Cadet Sean Lyddall (15) from 378 (Mannock) Squadron, was at Bedford Athletics Stadium where he represented South and East Midlands Wing, Air Training Corps at the organisation’s Regional Athletics Competition. Not only did Sean achieve gold in both of his events but he also broke the Region’s long-jump record which had been in place since 2008.
A budding athlete, Sean was selected by his commanding officers to represent the Wing in both the 800 metre and the long-jump. Having excelled in the Squadron’s own athletics team earlier in the year, Sean was selected for this prestigious competition, doing the Wing and his Squadron proud.
Sean is now looking forward to earning his ‘Regional Blue’ as he is set to compete in the Air Cadet Organisation’s national competition later this year.
Mannock Squadron’s Commanding Officer, Flight Lieutenant William Kellock, said: “This is a fantastic result. We’re all very proud of Sean’s achievements so far and looking forward to seeing him smash some national records too.”
