Air Cadets from 1461 Wigston Squadron provided a guard of honour at the recent funeral of Civilian Instructor John Orwin. The salute was taken by Flight Lieutenant Neil Liquorish former OC Wigston Squadron and long time friend and colleague. The service was taken by The Reverend Tim Ferguson, the Squadron Padre and also present were many past and present members of the squadrons John had been involved with.

John Orwin had a long association with the Air Cadet Organisation, starting as a cadet in Newcastle in the 1950’s to Adult Warrant Officer and finally as a Civilian Instructor in the South and East Midlands Wing. John had a profound impact on the young people he worked with a shaped cadets and staff into believing in them selves.

John enjoyed the out door life and was extremely proactive with the Duke of Edinburgh Award and National Navigation Award Scheme.

John will be sadly missed and our thoughts and best wishes go to his family and friends.
